Rec: More Than a Name

sue_denimme, first-time reccer. The fics I will be reccing all have three things in common: 1. They mostly feature Ten, though I did do my best to vary the other characters. 2. They either don't have a ship (unless you count *friend*ship), or the ship is not prominent. 3. They're short (the longest is under 6000 words).
So here goes:
Story: More Than a Name
Author: Emery_Board
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 643
Author's Summary: There have been secrets since the dawn of time. This is not one of them. There are secrets that would shatter the foundations of the universe. This is not that sort of secret. Perhaps the reason the Doctor refuses a name is simply because he has hundreds, and still none of them describe him properly.
Characters/Pairings: Ten (though it's really more about the overall character of the Doctor)
Warnings: None
Recced because: "Doctor who?" It's the show's longest-running gag. I'm actually about 95-99% certain that the question will never be resolved on screen. Why? Because after all these decades of teasing and dancing about the issue, what name could the writers possibly finally give him that wouldn't seem anticlimactic? And how could canon ever answer the question better than Emery_Board does in this little treasure of a fic? I particularly love the second half, and most especially the third-to-last paragraph. It gives me chills, happy chills. Really, read it. Just read it.
