Hello, hello all!! I'm [livejournal.com profile] a_phoenixdragon (PhoenixDragon) - and I am your reccer this week! *Waves* I know I am severely behind, so I figured I would treat you with two nummy recs today (spaced out over the day) and two nummy recs tomorrow (same routine) - and we'll get back to normal by Friday! I'm normally a 'darkficcer' by nature - but you will find these recs range all a manner of genres - and hopefully there will be something for everyone! So let's get to the first rec!

Story: Faces
Author: Lyricwritesprose
Rating: All Ages/PG
Word Count: 2161
Author's Summary: The Doctor explains regeneration to Rory and Amy. Set shortly after the end of "The Big Bang."
Characters/Pairings: AmyPond, Rory Williams, Eleventh Doctor
Warnings: Introspection, Missing Scene

Recced because: I'm a sucker for a fantastically penned Doctor - and we all know Lyricwritesprose has that arena covered for every Doctor imaginable. I'm also a sucker for a good tale from Rory's POV - and she covered that flawlessly as well! This has fast become one of my favorites, because it is a quiet moment after all the excitement - time to catch one's breath and reflect. The Doctor makes the most of that time and tells Amy and Rory the risks are not theirs to take - and why. There is a lovely moment where the Doctor chides Rory and it starts the conversation from there. The Regen conversation never really seems to come up - when is there time? But why did Amy and Rory not freak out more at the beginning of S6 when the Doctor started to regenerate? As always this author explains all that and so much more, with a flair and style that pulls you into the story and keeps you riveted until the end!

The Doctor pivoted slowly to look at me.

The Doctor is a decent person. The Doctor is self-sacrificing, and kind, and brave. The Doctor is also the universe's single most powerful self-propelled trouble magnet, and it's impossible not to get a little twitchy when a living chaos attractor looks at you like that. "Me?" I said.

"Exactly."

And then he lunged across the space between us, very quickly, to seize me by the collar. "Never," he said, face four inches from mine, "ever! Try! To take a bullet for me."
