Hi! I'm
lindenharp, RobinC on Teaspoon, back for my second turn at reccing great Doctor Who stories, both classic and new.
Story: Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
Author: The_Bookkeeper
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 8817
Author's Summary: In which good intentions pave the road to a very particular kind of hell.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler
Warnings: none
Reced because: I love stories which show the Doctor’s alien nature, especially those which focus on his telepathic gifts. In this AU, Immortal!Jack is travelling on the TARDIS with Rose and the Tenth Doctor. Jack and the Doctor get into trouble with the local authorities on an alien world where arguing in public is illegal. Rose has to save them. Sound familiar? Only our heroes haven’t been thrown into jail this time—they’ve been hooked up to a device that creates a telepathic bond between them so they can settle their differences in private. All very neat and civilized, except that a Time Lord mind is a dangerous place for a human like Jack.
“Look, Doc, whatever happens in here, I’m not going to leave you.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Captain!” snarled the Doctor, his voice carrying traces of the North and his eyes flashing blue for an instant. He stumbled backwards, looking almost as startled as Jack felt, and then his blank mask descended once more. “It’s starting.”
Go, read, and if you enjoy, please let the author know.
