[personal profile] nonelvis posting in [community profile] calufrax
Earlier today, I made a post saying the comm would now run biweekly. A couple of members have suggested running reccing periods for two weeks instead, so I'd like to sort out what people would prefer.

This poll will stay open until Friday, June 1, 8pm EDT.

I'd advocate for 5-10 recs over a 2-week period.

There's a Sherlock fic rec community that recruits 5 reccers per month, with each reccer making between 3 - 7 recs anytime during the month. It works pretty well - it provides a good variety, with a rec nearly every day, but the reccers have the flexibility to pick which days to post.

I think that would be cool too. Wow, everyone here is full of great ideas!

Here's a link to that community, if you want to check out how it works. Plus there's a lot of cool fic recommendations, for anyone is into Sherlock. There have even been a couple of fairly recent Who crossover recs about Holmes and Watson in the Year than Never Was.

My vote is for two-week reccing periods, with 4-14 recs. That gives the maximum flexibility, where people with a lot of recs can rec something every day, and people with 4 recs can spread them out however they like across the two weeks (which is not only more convenient for the reccer, but better than having a guaranteed no-recs week every other week), and then all the in-betweeners can be comfortably in between.

Speaking for myself, I would LOVE to have two weeks to rec 7-10 stories.

This was pretty much what I was going to suggest.

This is quite a good solution - it doesn't make someone work harder for two weeks, but it doesn't limit someone who has that many recs to share, either. The 5-10 suggestions below would also work.

This seems like the best of both worlds to me.

If I had two weeks to rec 4-7 fics, I might sign up. So... :D

I'd suggest two weeks with 5-10 recs. For people who don't want too much recs stress, that's only one rec more than now with a whole extra week to do it in, and for people who'd rather rec a bit more, there's an almost 50% increase in maximum. (Also, nice round numbers! *g*)

a bit late with my two cents, but i was wondering about the possibility of revisiting some stories that have already been recced (perhaps a minimum of 2 years ago). because obviously you can go back through the community, but a lot of people don't because there's so much of it, and it's different to getting a rec on your f-list every so often.

we could potentially do something a bit like 'you have to rec at least 3 new things, and then you can re-rec 3 old things'. one of the problems i have as a reccer is that, while new stuff is continually being produced, a lot of hte stuff i feel really passionate about has already been nabbed.

anyway! just a suggestion.
