Recced Because: This is possibly the best written of all Eighth Doctor fics out there. If no one's guessed, Eight is my Doctor, and this does justice to his character. I am still holding on stubbornly to hope we'll see him in the 50th for more than a three second glimpse. This story made me cry, when few others have, but it's worth it. Its soooo worth it.

Bless you. And thank you for the awesome recommendation! It still makes me so happy that you enjoyed this fiction so. That it moved you: in the end, if I could keep him in character (I obsess over that) and make you feel, then I feel I have won half the battle. This was just something that fell out of the sky and made so much sense -

Sorry you had a bad day, but glad this rec made it better. I told you I was going to and this is an all time favorite. Made my day when I first read it. Eight is my favorite, because when you think back to the movie and that cheerful, romantic, slightly näieve bloke who was so happy about someone giving him shoes... and they fit! And then consider what Nine said in Dalek, or the End of the World, or even Ten and the EOT, it just breaks your heart.

You are a dearheart - and I must admit, you telling me you would rec it left me flabbergasted a bit. Had to go back and re-read it to see what you enjoyed about it so! I'm so happy it could make your day when you first read it - and I hope it does so again and again.

He was such a dollbaby!! I adored him! He reminded me of two or three mixed - so youthful and fresh and excited! Nine and Ten were a bit of a staggering blow. And it took me a while to get used to the idea of Gallifrey being gone. I think I was walking dea with him.

But there had to be a transition. And such changes can be so gradual...it made sense that if the War was that long, it would take it's toll somehow. Eight just dropped this in my lap and it made sense. So I let him speak. Both him and Eleven are so clear for me. They kind spoil me a bit with their sweet chatter and dark voices - I let them roll with it when they find something to share.

Thank you for your sweet words!! And thank you for the pic-love. It keeps making itself my default. When i discovered the joy of Eleventy, it became my default for over a year...and it became my default again here recently. Dunno why he keeps sneaking in there...*grins*

I've only done one short piece with Eleven, but its not actually labeled as Eleven. I couldn't figure out which one it was when I wrote it, just who it wasn't, lol. Everyone else said it felt like Eleven, and extremely dark and depressing besides. I usually write 10.5, mainly because he never shuts up. Started out as 20,000 words to exorcise a story, now I'm two 100,000+ word monsters in, and no sign of the exorcism working yet. Even worse, I now have a tendency to say "Oi!" Bad sign, that. God, writing fan fiction is addictive. Gets worse when you start getting fans. And that's a real mind-bender, there. Especially when people ask "Where do you come up with this" and you can't exactly say "no clue." Or worse, ask for spoilers, when you don't have any idea because the characters hijacked the story a long time ago and you're there for the ride just as much as they are.

As for that transition, I'm going to attempt a Time War fic this winter, as per a request from a friend. Going to have to see the 50th to see how much, if anything they cover, because I do try to stick to canon. I know, completely barmy.

I wanna squish you for this comment, cause...yes. THIS. Except for Fans. What are those? I haz my listy and stragglers and a few people who seem to love to be in pain, but fans I know nothing of - except how to be one. *Cackles* I find my self saying 'oi', 'hell', 'bloody' and 'blimey' a lot. I have a few shows I blame for this, lol!!

Yeah. People don't like it when you have no idea, lol! But half the time, I'm flying by the seat of my pants, praying they're remaining true to character, even as I veer wildly from canon.

GO FOR IT. And why not! Rawk on, sweetie!

Yeah, blimey is another one I've picked up, and worse. The only pests are the ones who keep asking for spoilers. And then there's the weird person who asked if I was the Doctor. I mean, WHAT? WHAT?! No, you've got to be kidding me. Are you off your flipping trolley?! Really, people have been great. Other than the people jumping on twitter to bug me for updates, the dozens of emails asking me strange questions. Suddenly, there's people asking if I know anything about the missing episodes. I mean, why? I'm just a fan fiction writer. Not an oracle. I've never crossed the Atlantic, much less left the States. Why would I know anything? Next time someone asks, I've had Marco Polo in my sock drawer for years.
