Author's Summary: River Song is rescued from a dangerous situation by the Doctor. But not one she'd met before.

Recced because: Wibbly-wobbly stories when the Doctor and companions meet out of the right temporal order are always fun. This is an excellent example, written by an author who hasn't been recced here before, in which River, en route to prison, is rescued by an early incarnation of the Doctor.
"Your hair's almost curlier than mine," she told him, casting a flirtatious, side-long glance at him.
"So it is," he grinned at her. "So, how about you tell me exactly why the TARDIS dragged me all the way here to rescue you?" His face became serious and he stopped, holding River by the shoulders and looking down into her eyes. "What's so special about you, then?"
River could have sobbed but she didn't. She kept the smile plastered on her face and replied: "Is this how you treat those you snatch from the jaws of doom, sweetie? Don't I get a chance to freshen up? Glass of wine? Or do we get straight down to the interrogation. If so, let's at least make it fun. There are some hand clamps back in the pod," she gave him her most seductive smile. Let's see how he plays, she thought.
The Doctor tilted his head to one side and regarded her. There was more to her than was at first apparent, that much was certain and the Doctor always liked to know precisely where he stood before making up his mind about anyone.
"Indeed. I noticed," he said quietly. "Why is that, do you suppose?"
Many apologies for linking to the wrong story in yesterday's post - it's now fixed.
