Story: We've Really Got To Stop Meeting Like This
Author: koshiroryuu
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2169
Author's summary: While traveling with the Doctor, Martha meets the Doctor. And then the Doctor. And then the Doctor. And then...
Characters/Pairings: Martha, Tenth Doctor, First Doctor, Second Doctor/Jamie, Third Doctor, Fourth Doctor, Fifth Doctor, Sixth Doctor, Seventh Doctor
Warnings: none, unless you want me to warn for high awesome levels
Recced because: Quite simply, I love this story. A lot. I loved it back when it was a series of commentfic in
koshiroryuu's fic journal as part of her 1001 Whovian Nights project (she's up to ninety-eight last time I checked!) and I still love it today. I loved it so much so that I bugged
koshiroryuu into posting it on Teaspoon just so that I could rec it here today.
It's multi-Doctor fic, which admittedly is one of my favourite genres in this fandom, but that's not the only reason I'm so very fond of it. I love it for the characterization. Koshiroryuu takes each of the classic telly Doctors that the Tenth Doctor and Martha run into and captures them perfectly: voice, mannerisms, and personality. I could hear the actors saying their dialogue. And she does this all in less than 4300 characters per Doctor. I'm quite impressed.

Date: 2008-04-28 06:02 pm (UTC)Nice plan - but I wasn't planning on recommending solely Martha-centric fics next time around (just don't look at my Favourites list on Teaspoon, OK?! :D)
(This was, um, actually the story whose rec I was worried about being stolen. If you remember me mentioning such a thing.)
Indeed I do... (I'm actually aiming to make a list of about 15 fics just in case I lose another 5 like I did in the run up to my last spell of recommending !)

That's a good idea! And yeah, you've got to be prepared. I've got a Writer file where I've copy-pasted the reccing form a couple dozen times over and when I go over my favorites list the week before to find the fics I want to rec, I fill out the top half of it. (I do two or three extras in case someone grabs my rec ahead of me, of course.) Then when it's my day to rec, I fill out the bottom part (which is the part that takes longest for me. The rest is just filling in blanks.)

That's what I did, copy-pasted the reccing form and then filled it out as I picked out fics - although I did write the "why I recommend this fic" bit at the same time as I recorded the rest, so I'd remember WHY I was intending to recommend it !
