Recced because: Evelyn Smythe, for those unfamiliar with her, is a fiftyish historian with a steel backbone who gives as good as she gets, which is probably why she makes such a fine foil to the Sixth Doctor's abrasiveness and arrogance. This story, told in the style of a rambling joke that turns sweet but not sappy, shows this very odd couple in their element, arguing, drinking, dancing, laughing, alarming everyone around them without meaning to (and sometimes very deliberately meaning to) and generally being wrapped up in one another in a way that made me smile. Six is definitely not my favorite of the Doctors, but I like him with Evelyn, very much.

That's awesome. I absolutely love Six and Evelyn in the Big Finish audios. They're what got me to like Colin Baker's character, and it's a shame he didn't have that kind of writing when he was on TV.

I can totally see the Doctor and Evelyn boozing it up at a pub.
