Recced because: This is another one that caught my eye in the queue, and I immediately knew I had to rec it someday. Ace is so very Ace in this story, fierce yet playful, first seducing Hex into using the transmogrification gun Ace has already grown quite comfortable with, then seducing Hex himself. Genderswap can be tough to pull off effectively without falling into stereotype territory, but that never happens here; each character remains recognizably themselves, no matter what body they're in, and takes pleasure in discovering the thrill of the new – and how surprisingly comfortable it can become.

Recced because: I ALMOST feel bad reccing something of

livii's because her stuff is so uniformly good it speaks for itself but this one is just so much fun. I love the glimpse into what Rose and Mickey and Jake got up to and what they were like together in the alt!verse. I love the similarities drawn between Rose/Mickey/Jake and Ace/Hex because to me at least, Ace and Rose are quite similar, as are their relationships with the men in the fic and that really works well, I think. They're just a really good pairing and threesome to throw together, they've got a lot in common and they snark so well. To top it all of, they're thrown together in a very fun, caper-ish type adventure thing with silly costumes! Don't be put off if you haven't met Hex before,

livii has his voice and his relationship with Ace down really well so you could arguably use this fic to work out whether you might like him or not!

Recced because: This is so in-character it almost hurts; every word could be coming straight from my favourite of the audios. It's quiet and subtle and gorgeous: there's a war on, and no one is left unscathed, but through the grimness and devastation and blood and horror, there's a little bit of hope. From field triage to plastic surgery on Barbie dolls to a heart-breakingly just-about-shippy conclusion, with spot-on dialogue and an amazing sense of time and place in between, this made my heart sing.

Recced because: Kesomon points out at the top of the story that it's crack and it is: good crack. It does involve moving events around a bit to make it work, but the payoff is worth it. No excerpt for this one, and I am avoiding saying much about the story because it is so short that anything I do say would give the whole thing away. Just bear in mind that the title and the summary may or may not be misleading.

Recced because: It's such a brilliant depiction of Ace at her most human and strong. There's a whole subplot going on in the background and livii manages to make it central to the plot and both completely unimportant to the majority of the word count. Brilliant. Review this fic - it's got a single, solitary review and it's worth so much more despite it's brevity.

livii manages to pack so much into these little stories. Entire worlds and relationships and so much emotion in tiny snapshots. And I really think there is something for everyone here. Whatever pairings or characters you prefer, whether you enjoy angst or humor or action, it's all there. And the best part is, it looks like she is going to continue to update the masterlist as she writes more of these ficlets, so bookmark this page, people!

Story: The World, The Universe

Author's summary: Hex steps off the yellow brick road.

Word Count: ~2,000 words

Recced because: This absolutely gorgeous story goes AU after the Big Finish audio The Settling, but knowledge of that story isn't particularly required (though it gives some context). After trying holidays to get Hex to stay, and adventures where he realizes that this isn't who he wants to be, he leaves the TARDIS to go and help the world – so utterly in character. The whole story is incredibly sweet without being the tiniest bit sappy – exactly as romantic as Ace/Hex could ever be, and completely satisfying. Add in fabulous details about the TARDIS, Ace trying to pick up girls for Hex at a bar, and drunken almost-kisses, and overall it's a heart-wrenchingly perfect slice of fic for a very underrepresented character and pairing. I just can't recommend it enough.

Recced because: Sometimes you want to read long plotty gen, sometimes you want to read some character driven angst and sometimes what you really want to read is some brain bendingly hilarious crack!fic.

This fic has something for everyone, and by that I mean that whoever you ship they probably get a mention in there somewhere. It's very funny and never fails to cheer me up any time I read it.

Plus who doesn't love a fic that contains the line 'Captain Jack Harkness, at your service. Ah... I’ll find my pants, shall I?'
